Speaking for a friend who applied for the store, she clarified he was an employee, not the owner, of a problem-plagued Jefferson Street store, said claims that a neighboring lot couldn't sell were unfair, and noted he'd been targeted by a fraudulent letter asking him to wire money. She said the store would help handicapped and nearby residents.

Said the area needs a gas station rather than a duplicate convenience store, and questioned late-night activity near the existing store across the street.

Representing property owners across the street, said the office/institutional zoning makes their vacant former daycare property nearly unsellable and urged council to consider allowing retail uses along the corridor.
